Nestled into the foothills of the Julian Alps in northwest Slovenia, glacial Lake Bled is a place of spectacular natural beauty. Subterranean thermal springs keep the lake’s exquisite blue-green waters relatively warm during summer, making it a hot spot for water sports. Bled also makes a perfect base for exploring the Julian Alps.
Lake Bohinj is located in a glacially formed lake basin and holds almost 100 million cubic metres of water. According to an old Bohinj joke, only one bucket if the bucket is big enough. The lake basin, which descends steeply, is not indented and is almost without shallows. The lake warms up to 24°C at the surface in summer and often freezes in winter. Water levels rise by more than 3 m during heavy rainfall.

St Thomas Church (or Sveti Tomaž), located just outside Ljubljana, is a beautiful church nestled in the hills of Northern Slovenia. The viewpoint offers a iconic Slovenian view, and it’s not that well known so you’ll hardly find anyone here.

The village of Jamnik with its church of St. Primus and Felicianus is one of the most photographed locations in Slovenia. From here, you can admire the view of the Ljubljana basin, the Karawanks and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. It is located on the hillsides of Jelovica and is best known for the gothic church that stands on a hill above the village.

The Plitvice Lakes in Croatia are magical. The national park contains 90 waterfalls and 16 lakes. And the waterfalls are not only beautiful but also special. The subsoil consists of travertine, a striking white rock of lime.
These lakes are among the most beautiful natural areas in the world. The main attractions are dozens of waterfalls and numerous lakes. And Plitvice is beautiful in all seasons.
Numerous pictures of Plitvice Lakes can be found online. And with reason. The green of the shrubs and beech trees contrasts sharply with the clear water and the light-coloured rocks. In real life, the mix of colours is even more special. Especially in the early morning when the light is soft. And it is nice and quiet because most tourists come here after ten o’clock.

Jajce is a historical town in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, built on the confluence of beautiful rivers Pliva and Vrbas. Very rich in history but also in natural beauty, this small Bosnian town is one of the most visited places in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Pliva Waterfalls are one of the most impressive sights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, if not the entire Balkan region. They might not be as high as they once were (an earthquake during the war led to the area being flooded and the falls had to be rebuilt), but any time you get to see water plunging 20+ metres into a river as an appealing town rises behind it you are inevitably going to give the thumbs up, if not the full two thumbs.

Named after the bridge keepers who guarded the Stari Most in medieval times, Mostar is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most popular cities. Home to the iconic Stari Most Bridge, the Old Town of Mostar is a highlight of any visit and the city still houses many fascinating glimpses into its devastating past.
The town developed mainly during the Ottoman period, from the 16th century on. The Bridge was built in 1566 upon the design of the great Ottoman architect Kodja Mimar Sinan and constructed by his pupil architect Hayruddin.

Perast, as an absolute highlight of the Bay of Kotor, is also one of the most beautiful Baroque towns in Montenegro. As a former sailor center it still shines with marvelous buildings, pretty churches and a romantic waterfront. Nevertheless, the main attractions of Perast, and also the most famous postcard motif of Kotor Bay, are the 2 offshore church islands, which can be visited on a boat trip.

Sveti Stefan is the enchanting islet of Montenegro located about 3 miles south of the city of Budva. Surrounded by the blue waters of the Adriatic and connected to the mainland by a thin strip of land, this is one of the most luxurious tourist resorts in Europe. This small rocky island was once a small fortified village used as a safe haven from Turkish incursions. It is now home to an exclusive hotel complex called the Aman Sveti Stefan a popular destination for world-famous VIPs and royalty.
