In the morning, we’ll take a stroll along the seaside promenade and enjoy a refreshing swim in the warm Greek sun. Then, after a relaxed coffee break, we’ll set sail for the island of Kithnos with its scenic bay and ancient Chora. This passage will be fairly long — about 6 hours. We’ll make a stop at the port of Merichas and visit the incredible village of Dryopida, where time seems to have stood still. Here you’ll find whitewashed houses, narrow flower-filled streets glowing under the warm sun, and friendly, smiling locals. We’ll also take a swim at the beautiful Kolona Beach.
Kithnos is a stunning mountainous island located in the western part of the Cyclades archipelago. Its wild natural landscape, flower gardens, the scents of oregano and thyme, windmills, elegant architecture, and numerous wonderful beaches make Kithnos feel like a living fairy tale. Chora, also known as Messaria, is the island’s capital, built along a ridge of hills. This is a classic Cycladic village with whitewashed houses and blue shutters, stone windmills, blooming gardens, and narrow alleyways — virtually unchanged since the 17th century. Around every turn you’ll find murals by local artists depicting different facets of life on the island.
Dryopida lies in the very heart of the island. It is a quiet, picturesque town with red-tiled roofs — likely a nod to the village’s ceramic traditions — and winding narrow streets. Its main attraction is the Katafiki Cave, the largest in the Cyclades and one of the biggest caves in all of Greece, filled with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. In the main square, you’ll find tavernas and cafés. As you walk up toward the districts of Galatas and Pera Rouga, you’ll enjoy lovely churches along the way.
Kolona Beach is the most famous and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean Sea. A narrow strip of golden sand surrounded by water forms two independent beaches and connects Kithnos to the islet of Agios Loukas. The entire area is pristine, as it is difficult to reach by car. Thanks to its unique geography, the beach is sheltered from the wind on both sides, making it ideal for yachts. The crystal-clear waters of Kolona — a vivid, deep blue — combined with its golden sands create a breathtaking landscape. Its natural beauty will allow you to capture truly unique photographs.
